Crap. Who's blood?

Ok, Vino has been caught using someone else's red blood cells. Disappointing - yes, but surprising? - not really. Just hope the other cheaters are caught (i.e., Rasmussen) and that the sport gets cleaned up and that people realize that it is not the sport that is unusually corrupt but the testing that is unusually strict (and that should be rewarded rather than penalized).

Hey, I was interested to hear what you thought of this year's Tour.

Regarding the testing, yes, they do test alot, but many, if not all, sports that are in the Olympics get tested a whole lot, including tennis.

Golf doesn't it's true, and they should. Not doing so is akin to having your head in the sand. (or up your ass).

But the real deal with cycling is that it's a long endurance sport, so it's a situation that can most helped by performance enhancers (esp. so La Tour as it lasts a month with day after day competitions). It's hard for me to believe that most any cyclst isn't doing (or didn't do) something; yes, that includes you Mr. Armstrong.

I'll have to tell you about an American guy, who was a pro cyclst for a season or two including riding La Tour, that I met in a bar in Paris. Short shrift: although he did complete La Tour and was asked to compete on his team the next season, they had him doing 'stuff' that he wasn't comfortable doing - not for any ethical reasons but for his personal health. So he didn't go back.

It may be that testing is catching up with the substances used, although the substances may always be ahead of the testing. Rasmussen was booted by his team for going AWOL from testing, not because he tested positive.

Anyway, these situations sort make it all the more attractive to me - is attractive the right word? compelling maybe better - in that same way a train wreck is attractive. Thus, I watched today and it was neat to see how it went: the four breakaway guys, then one making a surge near the end, seeming to get reeled in, but then putting in a little kick to cross comfortably ahead, with arms in the air. And it was Frenchman! Félicitations !
