Phoenix rising

The day after his spectacular time trial, Vino didn't have the legs to hurt anyone in the Pyrénées. Not only was he unable to attack but he lost a ton of time, putting him out of the race for the yellow jersey. To add insult to injury (or injury to injury), a spectator brought down him and a teammate on the final climb. Yet being the aggressive rider he is, Vino nonetheless attacked repeatedly the next day and won the stage.

Although he probably cannot win this year with all the time he has lost, Vino has shown himself to be indefatgible. (Aside: for those of you who are appalled (as most of us are), at the doping scandals in cycling these days, note that you only catch doping if you test for it and cycling tests far more than, say, golfing (see cycling.com or velonews.com)). The more you test for doping, the more likely you are to find it - a simple truth that seems beyond the ken of German TV bureaucrats who have banned cycling coverage but keep golf.
